Terms Of Use
Last updated: 8 October 2026
Provider
ContechCost is provided by Contech Group Pty Ltd (ACN 678 604 610, ABN 44 678 604 610) of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Contech Group Pty Ltd is the contracting party under these terms. In these terms, "Contech Group", "we", "us" and "our" refer to that company.
Service
ContechCost provides estimating, BOQ, and MCP-connected workflow features for business users. We may update, improve, suspend, or discontinue features from time to time.
Accounts And Use
- You must use the service lawfully and only for authorised business purposes.
- You are responsible for account security, user access, and activity performed through your workspace.
- You must not misuse the service, interfere with its operation, or attempt unauthorised access.
Customer Data
You retain responsibility for the legality, accuracy, and rights clearance of data submitted to the service. We process customer data to provide and secure the service in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
Rate Data Licence
The ContechCost rate library, including its rates, build-ups, resources, productivities and descriptions, is owned by or licensed to Contech Group. While your subscription is active, we grant your workspace a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to look up and use that data to prepare your own estimates, quotes and cost advice. Estimates and quotes you produce with it may be given to your own clients.
You must not, and must not allow any person, script or AI tool to:
- copy, scrape, download, export or systematically extract the rate library or any substantial part of it;
- make lookups beyond what is reasonably needed for your own estimating work, including automated bulk or repeated lookups;
- use the rate data to build, train, fine-tune, benchmark or populate another product, dataset, rate library or AI model;
- publish, resell, sublicense, share or redistribute the rate data other than inside your own estimates and quotes;
- remove or alter licence references, notices or other identifying marks in the data.
These rules apply to any AI assistant, agent or connector you link to ContechCost. You are responsible for what it does through your workspace. Every rate lookup is logged against your account, responses carry your workspace's licence reference, and we apply usage limits and monitoring to detect bulk copying. A breach of this section is a material breach of these terms. We may suspend or terminate access without notice and seek any other remedy available to us.
AI Credits
- Each plan includes a daily allowance of AI credits per user in each workspace. The allowance is shown on the pricing and billing pages.
- AI features use credits whether they are driven from ContechCost or from an AI assistant you connect, such as Claude or ChatGPT. The credit cost of an action depends on the work it does; batch actions cost more as they handle more rows.
- Credits reset at midnight UTC each day. Unused credits do not carry over, have no cash value and cannot be transferred or refunded, except where required by law.
- If an action is refused or fails before anything is saved, its credits are returned. If part of the work was saved, the credits are kept.
- Bonus or promotional credits apply only for the period and terms stated when they are given.
- We may change credit costs and allowances. We will tell you before a change that reduces your paid allowance takes effect.
AI Outputs And Professional Responsibility
ContechCost uses automated matching and AI to suggest scope, quantities, rate matches, build-ups and estimates. These outputs are tools to support your work. They are not professional advice and may be incomplete or wrong.
- You are responsible for checking every output before you rely on it, and for the estimates, quotes and advice you issue.
- Library rates are indicative direct costs. Unless stated otherwise they exclude preliminaries, overheads and profit, contingency, professional fees and tax, and they may not reflect your project, location, market or date.
- Outputs are provided for your use only. We do not accept responsibility to any other person who relies on them.
Subscriptions, Billing And Cancellation
- Paid ContechCost plans are billed monthly in advance at the price and currency shown at Checkout. Where a plan is priced per seat, the amount is multiplied by the workspace's billable seat count.
- Your paid subscription renews automatically each month until you cancel it. By completing Checkout, you authorise Contech Group and its payment provider to charge the selected payment method for each renewal.
- You may cancel through the billing portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid billing period, and paid access continues until then.
- Charges for a started billing period are not partially refunded or credited except where required by law or expressly agreed by Contech Group. This does not limit any non-excludable consumer rights.
- Changing directly between paid plans requires support while we confirm the timing and any price adjustment with you.
- Prices exclude applicable taxes unless Checkout states otherwise. You are responsible for taxes that apply to your purchase, and we may calculate, collect, and remit them where legally required.
Third-Party Services
The service may connect to third-party systems, including cloud providers and AI or connector platforms. Your use of those systems remains subject to the applicable third-party terms and policies.
Suspension And Termination
We may suspend or terminate access where reasonably necessary for security, non-payment, abuse, breach of these terms, or legal compliance.
Warranty Disclaimer And Liability
The service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim implied warranties and exclude liability for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss, including loss of profit, revenue, data or opportunity, and loss arising from reliance on outputs you did not check. Our total liability for all claims arising out of or in connection with the service is limited to the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.
Nothing in these terms excludes rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded. Where our liability for failing to meet a consumer guarantee can be limited, it is limited, at our option, to supplying the services again or paying the cost of having them supplied again.
Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia, and the courts of New South Wales have non-exclusive jurisdiction.
Changes To These Terms
We may update these terms. For a change that materially reduces your rights or your paid plan, we will give workspace owners at least 14 days' notice by email or in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use the service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms.
